CEU Malolos Library 
The Library Department in CEU Malolos Campus is located at the 3rd floor of the Pilar Hidalgo Lim Hall Building.

 

Mission


The Library's unique and vital role is to contribute to the operationalization of the University's mission of generating and disseminating knowledge through teaching, learning, research, and extension service in an academic atmosphere conducive to character formation and values inculcation.  The Library is an essential academic center that serves as a place of discovery, exchange and advancement of ideas through its commitment to accessing new information and archiving accumulated knowledge. The members of the staff are dedicated to offering the highest level of service in responding to the information needs of its academic community and in helping users understand and effectively use new and traditional forms of information delivery.

 

 

Statement of Goals


  • To support the mission of teaching, research, and extension service of the University by developing strong information resources in various formats.

  • To select, organize, and provide broad and timely access to information resources wherever and whenever they are needed.

  • To promote the use of CEU library collections and other information resources by creating an environment that encourages learning through excellent service.

  • To preserve library materials and ensure their availability to current and future scholars.

  • To develop and maintain appropriate physical and technological infrastructures conducive to learning.

  • To recruit, hire, train and retrain qualified staff member who are committed to service, innovation, and communication.

Acess & Use


Users of Library

 

The CEU libraries are open to the following, subject to the rules and regulations governing their use:

 

1. All bona fide students of the CEU community with Identification Card.

2. Faculty members, officers and the CEU Administration and non-teaching staff of the University.

3. CEU reviewees for Board Examination.

4. Alumni of the University with alumni identification card.

5. Scholars doing research work in the University with request letter from their respective officers.

6. Mendiola Consortium members with letter from their Head Librarians.

7. Members and students of other educational institutions with request letter from their respective Chief Librarian and with the privilege to conduct research granted by the University Librarian,

 

Persons under categories 3-7 are required to register with the Office of the University Librarian in CEU Malolos,  PHL 3rd Floor.

 

Policies on Internet and CD-ROM Services

 

1. The Internet and CD-ROM services are for academic-related researches only.  Computer chats, card playing, word processing and pornographic surfing are strictly prohibited.

2. The following are allowed to avail of the CD-ROM and Internet Services:

 

a. Undergraduate and  Graduate students

b. Faculty

c. Non-Teaching employees

3. User of internet should present his identification card, log in at the counter and proceed to assigned workstation 

4. Internet user must see to it that he has logged in and out at the Internet Service Unit counter so as to compute the number of minutes/hours used.

5. Internet user who exceeds the four (5) hours free surfing per month will be charged Php0.50/minute.

6. User of CD-ROM shall be given thirty (30) minutes to use the workstation to give the other students the chance to avail themselves of the CD-ROM

7. Printing of research output must be requested from the staff on duty.  Any erroneous printouts will be charged to the user concerned.  Printing cost is as follows:

 

Php 5.00/page for the laser printer

Php25.00/page for the color printer (full graphics)

8. Payment of necessary fees for printing of excess of the allowed four (4) free hours should be given to the staff on-duty before leaving the Cybrary Unit.  Library official receipt is issued for all collected fees.

9. Priority is given to all CEU users, in case all workstations are in use.

10.  Downloading of Internet files is permitted; however, the diskette should be bought from the Cybrary Unit to keep the computer protected from computer viruses.  

11. Diskette bought from the Internet Services Unit can be used again but will have to be scanned first.

12. USB drive should be scanned first for virus infection before using it.  A virus infected USB drive will not be allowed to be used in any Internet, CD-ROM and Online Periodicals workstations in the Library as a preventive measure for virus infection.

13. Cell phones will have to be turned off while inside the Cybrary Unit.

 

 

USE OF WI-FI CONNECTION - The CEU Malolos Library offers a “Hotspots” (Internet wireless connectivity).

 

Who may connect to the CEU Library Hotspots:

Only Patrons of Centro Escolar University-Mendiola Manila students, faculty and employees holding a current valid Identification Card may access the Hotspots.

 

How to connect in the CEU Library Hotspots:

 

Patrons who have their own Laptop or any Wireless Network Devices can connect directly to the hotspots as long as the    Library IT staff configured it.

Policies on the Use of the CEU Library Wireless Network Technology

 

1. Access service is only offered to any CEU library user who has his or her own laptop computer compatible with the IEEE 802.11b standard.

2. Users are encouraged to use battery run laptop computers due to limited electrical outlets.

 

RESERVED BOOK COLLECTION - Books requested by faculty members in the various courses are placed on reserve. These books may be read in the reading room only on one-hour loan subject to renewal if no other students need them.  Overnight loans are allowed for reserved books at 4:00 p.m. and are to be returned not later than 8:00 a.m. the next day.

 

CIRCULATION UNIT - Books in the Circulation Unit may be borrowed for home use for 3 days. Except for reference books and periodicals, they may be borrowed for home use for three (3) days. Periodicals of current and back issues available in this unit are for Room Use only.  It also includes the following:

 

1. Microfilms of selected local newspapers and magazines in CD-ROM and DVD-ROM formats.

2. Periodical titles in CD-ROM format

3. On-Line Periodical titles available on the website

 

Computer workstations are available in this unit for journals in CD-ROMS.  Articles found maybe printed out for Php 5.00 per page.

 

The collection of reference materials in text form and in electronic format. The text form is limited for Room Use, and may be photocopied for 15 minutes only.

 

Computer workstations are available for reference materials that are in CD-ROM format. Researchers may request print out of the article for Php 5.00 per page.

 

 

1. Filipiniana books and other materials which may be drawn out for home use or room use only depending on the type of materials.

 

2. Filipiniana Reference books such as Philippine yearbooks, encyclopedias, dictionaries, biographical sources, almanacs, etc. are for Room Use only and may be photocopied for 15 minutes only.

 

3. Undergraduate Research Collection - a collection of undergraduate theses and feasibility studies submitted by the graduating students to their respective school/college and turned over to the library for use as references by incoming fourth year students.  These materials are for ROOM USE ONLY.

 

 

CYBRARY UNIT - On-line researching can be done in this unit.  The Internet Services supplement the existing print materials in the library.  Students are allowed to browse web pages and to do e-mail but on a specified time only.
